PROGRAM IN MEDIA STUDIES

Film History and Aesthetics

The discipline of Media Studies was originally based on the study of film, which continues to provide a foundation for any analysis of audiovisual content, including in the age of Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Courses in the Film History and Aesthetics elective area consequently ensure students develop both a vocabulary for analyzing moving images and an understanding of their history—how we get from silent film to the internet.
